The Agilent 1290 Infinity II LC was used for the determination of additives in food products, beverages, and consumer toothpaste. The developed method facilitates accurate and sensitive determination of nine additives using a diode array detector (DAD) and an evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) placed in series. After the DAD, a valve was installed to remove nonretained solutes in reversed-phase LC, which could increase the noise level of the ELSD. Total analysis time, including re-equilibration, was below 10 minutes with minimal sample preparation. Method performance was evaluated with standard solutions as well as with a series of real samples.
